Prentice Bitchslapped by Bonner

Kudos to Susan Bonner for holding Jim Prentice to account on today's edition of Politics on CBC. I almost felt sorry for Prentice out there. It must be hard having to fill in for an absentee Finance Minister on marching orders from Grand Wizard Harper to disseminate lies and disinformation to the general public. Today, the CPC propaganda continued unabated, with Prentice trying his best to lie through his teeth about not only a Liberal spending platform that has yet to be released, but also (incredibly) about the previous Liberal government record with respect to deficit reduction and balanced budgets.

When Prentice smeared Liberals as "tax & spend", and tried to credit Harpo with being the first to balance budgets, Bonner quickly jumped in to point out that it was successive Liberal governments under Chretien and Martin that delivered balanced budgets and paid down a deficit in excess of 40 billion dollars left by Conservative Lyin' Brian Mulroney. Despite being challenged by such facts, which are a matter of public record, Prentice huffed and puffed and responded that "we could debate these things all day".

As an incredulous Bonner further pressed him on how one could "debate" the facts, Prentice's response was to say that during the previous Liberal governments, he credited "the Canadian taxpayer" for balancing the budget. He neglected to explain how precisely the taxpayer accomplished this all by his lonesome. Nor did he delve into explaining the overall benefits of a Harper GST cut that seems to have impacted few except for businesses and other organizations that are pocketing millions in the form of pennies per transaction not passed on to consumers of most small ticket items purchased every day.

A decent rebuttal by John McCallum followed, but the bitter taste of Prentice's douchebaggery lingered in my mouth. What kind of a person appears on national television with nothing but a pack of lies and a total lack of integrity? If I were Prentice, I'd be writing an angry letter to Mssrs Harper and Flaherty tonight. It doesn't speak much for Prentice that he has been chosen by his masters to be thrown to the wolves in this manner. If the PM and Finance Minister want to dig in the ditch of disinformation and revisionist history, they should grab some shovels and do some of the dirty work themselves.

Postscript: Can we just put Don Newman out to pasture? Susan Bonner appears to be a superlative host in nearly every way.

5 Feet of Retard on the UNI Shooting

Would it be uncouth of me to suggest that Kathy Shaidle is a shallow, pathetic bottom-feeder? How else to explain her in-depth analysis of the UNI shooting...
"I feel I am committed to social justice"
wrote Illinois University rampage killer, a social work major who also listed "peace" and "political violence" among his interests. (Note that word "feel.")
Ah yes, "social justice": the forced application of unworkable solutions to imaginary problems. So: answer as if you had to bet your life on it -- did this guy vote Democrat or Republican?

Words fail me. But not NAMBLA-obsessed Dick Evans, who chimes in with this PhD thesis:
So a wackjob socialist activist goes berserk and starts shooting... par for the course if you ask me...Posted by: Richard Evans at February 15, 2008 2:00 PM
So when exactly did stupidity become a badge of honour amongst these people?

From the Idiots: Guns Prevent Gun Violence

Today brought another tragedy to an American college campus. A gunman opened fire at Northern Illinois University, and as of this moment, 5 are dead and 18 injured. And in case you were wondering, it didn't take long for the moronosphere to start opining for more guns in the hands of more people.
When will this madness stop? Maybe when we stop being victims.
To borrow a line from one of my favourite movies: Thank you for playing 'Should we or should we not follow the advice of the Galactically Stupid?'

Vote Green

Couldn't help myself...this is a great set of clips from The Awful Truth. Michael Moore runs a ficus plant for Congress (Parts I, II and III). Enjoy!

Romney Projected to Win Maine!!!

OK, I admit that I don't fully understand the nuances of the American Presidential nomination system. Caucuses, primaries, delegates, super-delegates...it's enough to make my head spin.

But according to the graphic above (provided by CNN), Mitt Romney is the projected winner of the Maine caucus, with a double-digit lead on his nearest competitor John McCain. This must come as something of a demoralizing blow to the McCain camp, seeing as Romney dropped out of the race three days ago.

Two questions for anyone who may care to offer an answer:

1. Why does a non-existent candidate remain on the ballot?

2. Why does anyone (and in this case, a majority of people) vote for someone who is no longer in the race??

On the face of it, it seems like total idiocy. Might as well cast a vote for Michael Moore's ficus plant.

Good Riddance - Part 2!!

So long to Mitt "the Sh*t" Romney, as he thankfully withdrew from the Republican Presidential race today! Putting the "ass" in "class", he dropped this turd on the Obama and Clinton campaigns:
“In this time of war, I simply cannot let my campaign be a part of aiding a surrender to terror.’’
If that's the best this schmuck had to offer, I hope the door did hit him on the way out.

This essentially hands the nomination to John McCain, although if the beacon of wisdom emananting from Pictou Nova Scotia is to be believed, Mike Huckabee is a "formidable force". Pardon me while I contemplate this: HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good Riddance!

Rudy Giuliani dropped out of the Republican Presidential race today. Strangely, his brilliant strategy of focussing virtually his entire campaign on 2 states (Florida and New York) didn't work out for him.

"Yeah, it's a real head-scratcher", said Giuliani. "I would have thought running on a platform of 9/11, being considered a left-wing Republican, and campaigning in all of 2 states would really have been enough to get me over the top."

When asked if he would have done things differently, Rudy acknowledged that his focus may have been too narrow. "It was probably a mistake to direct all my energy on just Florida and New York. Next time, I'll add Hawaii or Rhode Island."
