Tagged

A few days ago, I was 'tagged' by Jay at the Sleveen Institute. I'm not sure where this whole tagging thing originated, and frankly I'm too lazy to spend the 5 minutes it would take to find out. So here are 8 random facts about yours truly.

1. I was born and raised near Toronto, but currently live in Vancouver.

2. I am a physician, and have spent so long as a student I barely know how to live otherwise.

3. I am most assuredly not rich, but have no objections to becoming so.

4. I blog pseudonymously since current or future patients may be reading, and my political views shouldn't interfere in the doctor-patient relationship.

5. I have one brother, who is 5 years younger than me, also a physician, and my best friend.

6. I am a "dog person", though I don't have any pets at the moment.

7. I had a life-threatening cancer diagnosed last year, but thanks to a bone marrow transplant I am recovering well (touch wood).

8. I despise chain letters.

Pursuant to #8, I have decided not to tag anyone else. If anyone has strong feelings about this, feel free to leave a comment.

Re #4.

Very wise.
I cringe every time I see Dr. Roy (not as a patient but on a professional level.)
Then again, he's like his blog in person....

Speedy recovery RC. Nice to know you a bit better, but I'm with you on the chain letter thing.

PS - Thx for your comment re' my Mirvish post.

Anon @ 6:40 - I thought about it for a while before deciding to go with a pseudonym. It just makes life easier at work (where I have also encountered a few Dr. Roy types amongst my peers).

Thanks KNB. I don't mind sharing random info with people, but I just have a sort of visceral dislike of chain letters (even though this one is admittedly good-natured in its intent).

Oh and re: Mirvish...it was a good post, and "John" should really have had the decency not to hijack it.

I’d like have more respect for Dr. Roy if not for his blog… we’ll actually not, he’s a moonbat in person. This debate over being “anonymous” is interesting because we get accused of hiding. The thing is that many of us are active politically outside the blogsphere – I certainly am. And frankly, the mudslinging and death threats pale in comparison with what happens on the blogs. I find that some would judge without knowing any of us. Yes what we write can be a good indication of how we are in real person but it’s only part of the story.
When I read RT or your blog there is a level of discourse that is open to debate. Sure many of us don’t agree but I find it that dissent is accepted. I’ve seen biting criticism about the Liberals on liberal blogs but rarely the same on BT – Olaf is the only BT that comes to mind as being above mindless talking points.

Harry Redknapp thinks the Football Association should wait until the end of the season before approaching anyone to be the next England manager.

Redknapp is favourite to replace current incumbent Fabio Capello, who confirmed on Friday that he would leave his post after Euro 2012.

"It's very difficult for [the FA] to choose another manager if he's already working," the Tottenham manager said.
