From the Idiots: Guns Prevent Gun Violence

Today brought another tragedy to an American college campus. A gunman opened fire at Northern Illinois University, and as of this moment, 5 are dead and 18 injured. And in case you were wondering, it didn't take long for the moronosphere to start opining for more guns in the hands of more people.
When will this madness stop? Maybe when we stop being victims.
To borrow a line from one of my favourite movies: Thank you for playing 'Should we or should we not follow the advice of the Galactically Stupid?'

Vote Green

Couldn't help myself...this is a great set of clips from The Awful Truth. Michael Moore runs a ficus plant for Congress (Parts I, II and III). Enjoy!

Romney Projected to Win Maine!!!

OK, I admit that I don't fully understand the nuances of the American Presidential nomination system. Caucuses, primaries, delegates, super-delegates...it's enough to make my head spin.

But according to the graphic above (provided by CNN), Mitt Romney is the projected winner of the Maine caucus, with a double-digit lead on his nearest competitor John McCain. This must come as something of a demoralizing blow to the McCain camp, seeing as Romney dropped out of the race three days ago.

Two questions for anyone who may care to offer an answer:

1. Why does a non-existent candidate remain on the ballot?

2. Why does anyone (and in this case, a majority of people) vote for someone who is no longer in the race??

On the face of it, it seems like total idiocy. Might as well cast a vote for Michael Moore's ficus plant.

Good Riddance - Part 2!!

So long to Mitt "the Sh*t" Romney, as he thankfully withdrew from the Republican Presidential race today! Putting the "ass" in "class", he dropped this turd on the Obama and Clinton campaigns:
“In this time of war, I simply cannot let my campaign be a part of aiding a surrender to terror.’’
If that's the best this schmuck had to offer, I hope the door did hit him on the way out.

This essentially hands the nomination to John McCain, although if the beacon of wisdom emananting from Pictou Nova Scotia is to be believed, Mike Huckabee is a "formidable force". Pardon me while I contemplate this: HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good Riddance!

Rudy Giuliani dropped out of the Republican Presidential race today. Strangely, his brilliant strategy of focussing virtually his entire campaign on 2 states (Florida and New York) didn't work out for him.

"Yeah, it's a real head-scratcher", said Giuliani. "I would have thought running on a platform of 9/11, being considered a left-wing Republican, and campaigning in all of 2 states would really have been enough to get me over the top."

When asked if he would have done things differently, Rudy acknowledged that his focus may have been too narrow. "It was probably a mistake to direct all my energy on just Florida and New York. Next time, I'll add Hawaii or Rhode Island."

Shorter Conservatives

"We were forced to lie, deceive and accuse the Opposition of siding with the Taliban in order to protect our troops".

The arrogance of mendacious cretins like Van Loan, MacKay and Buckler to assume that Canadians share their collective lack of intellect is positively stunning.

Amidst criticism from the Manley report that the CPC has been less than forthcoming in sharing details on the Afghan mission with Canadians, the CPC has taken the bold step of being less than forthcoming in sharing details of the Afghan mission with Canadians. Way to go, Steve.

Said Harper's Professional Sacrificial Lamb #3 (Van Loan),
"...there may be an interest in clarity and transparency and we support that"

Laughable. Peter Van Loan: another pitiful sailor on this Ship of Fools.

Somebody Waterboard This Guy...

Foreign Affairs Minister Maxime Bernier continues to prove two things:
1. If it wasn't for the starch in his shirt, there would be nothing keeping him upright.

2. Integrity and intelligence are not prerequisites for employment in the Harper government. In fact, they may be exclusionary criteria.

Like the good lapdog he is, Bernier said he would remove the US and Israel from a Canadian list of countries in which prisoners risk being tortured, and that he regretted the "embarassment" (coincidentally, an apt description of his own record as Foreign Affairs Minister).

Odd, since the American director of national security has himself stated that interrogation techniques such as waterboarding would be considered torture.

Odder still, since if the conference below takes place, we will be obliged to add Canada to the list of places where torture occurs.
