GOP Used Stock Photos of "Teh Blacks"

Everyone knows that the Republican Party (the party of old white people) is the best friend of "the coloureds". When the GOP was putting together its video tribute to John McCain, it decided that rather than go out and take pictures of actual African-Americans - they must have assumed it would be dangerous, given the state of America's inner cities - they would simply download them from iStockphotos.com. Sadly, this is not a joke. Go to 6:45 and 7:02 of the video, and check out the pics below. h/t DailyKos

I don't actually have a problem with the use of stock images...that's why they are taken and sold. The Walter Reed Middle School thing was a little funnier. I think the whole convention looked hastily organized with multiple little mistakes. Its a new experience for Republicans to have less to spend than Democrats and they are having some difficulty adjusting.

MD - The use of the stock photos isn't that big a deal, in and of itself. But the GOP has been battling perceptions of incompetence, dishonesty, and trouble relating to immigrants and minorities. Exposing the fact they used stock photos of black people seems to be a rather amusing kick in the crotch on all 3 fronts.

Dont forget why the republican perty came to be, because they where against slavery expanding in the west, long before anyone else...nothing wrong with stock photos, democrats do it...

Anon - That may be the case, but in recent years the GOP has garnered on average less than 15% of the black vote federally, and that trend is likely to continue this year.

And from a totally non-scientific eyeballing of the crowd at both the Dem and GOP conventions, it sure looked like the Republican audience was overwhelmingly white compared to the Democratic crowd.

Anyways, from a production standpoint, the whole GOP convention seemed amateurish and comical.

I was just reading an article about Cindy McCain's financial interests - one being the destruction of human embryos. She owns buildings where these labs are set up and has a $100,000 investment it them.....so much for life beginning at conception McCain.

Anyway, while reading a friend of my husband's came in and said when he watched the RNC Convention coverage he thought he was watching a scene from Deliverance when panning the audience....needless to say, I lost some of my coffee.

Any in-depth reader of American history knows that the Republican party and Democratic Party switched ideologies some time in the 1960s. In other words, the modern GOP and Dems have little in common with their historic roots.

Her administration had two primary focuses: education and economic development. She secured an increase in education funding during a special legislative session in 1985 and successfully used economic incentives to bring a Toyota manufacturing plant to Georgetown, Kentucky, in 1986. After her term as governor, she became president of Saint Catharine College near Springfield, Kentucky. Her husband's conviction on charges of influence-peddling in 1993 damaged her hopes for a return to political life.
